Dr. Henrikson can help protect your mouth from oral cancer
by performing a biopsy. An oral biopsy is the process of removing a small piece of abnormal tissue from the mouth, and sending it for testing. During the testing, the origin of the abnormal tissue is determined, and treatment will be provided as needed. We will perform a biopsy if a patient has patches or sores in that mouth that cannot be diagnosed with normal x-rays or visual exams. A biopsy may be needed of you are experiencing one of the following:
- Sore throat not caused by a cold
- Numbing in your mouth
- Sores in your mouth that do not heal within 2 weeks
- Difficulty chewing or swallowing
