Dental Extractions
Although no one looks forward to an extraction, there are times when it is necessary. You may need to have a tooth extracted for a number of reasons such as decay, injury, or as part of orthodontic treatment. After a tooth extraction, neighboring teeth may shift, which can cause problems with your chewing or jaw joint function. To avoid this problem, Dr. Henrikson may recommend options to replace the extracted tooth with an implant or bridge.
Your teeth can be extracted with the use of local anesthesia, however some patients prefer to be sedated for the procedure. With local anesthesia, you will receive an injection to numb the involved area. If you choose sedation, medicines will be given through an IV to produce a semi-conscious or unconscious state. Then, you will receive numbing injections once asleep.
